CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M Buffaloes fired an opening round score of 285 (+1) to sit ninth on the team leaderboard at the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships at Orange County National Golf Center (Par 71 – 7,419 Yards) in Winter Garden, Florida.
WT registered 15 birdies on Tuesday highlighted by four feathers from freshman
Wyatt Provence as the Amarillo product fired a -4 (67) to sit tied for fifth overall. Tony Tao of Cal State Monterey Bay impressed during the opening round with a 63 (-8) to hold a two-stroke lead over Grand Valley State's Manuel Cue (-6, 65).
Oklahoma Christian and Colorado Christian fired a 277 (-7) during the opening round to sit atop of the team leaderboard followed by West Florida (279, -5), Grand Valley State (-5, 279) and Cal State Monterey Bay (-4, 280) to round out the top five.
The Buffs will be paired with Post and Ferris State during the second round on Wednesday with tee times beginning at 1:05 p.m. CT in Florida.
