CANYON, TX- West Texas A&M Buffs and Lady Buffs Cross Country remain ranked in the Top-30 USTFCCCA poll for the third week in a row. The Buffs moved up one spot to No. 8 in the nation while the Lady Buffs dropped two spots to No. 29 in the nation.
BUFFS
The Buffs move up one spot to No. 8 in the nation after a dominating race at the Texas Tech Open this past Friday, Sept. 15. The Buffs won the team and individual title running past Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and UT-El Paso along with New Mexico JC and LSC opponents St. Edward's and Angelo State.
Junior
William Amponsah led the Buffs to victory with the fastest 8k time ever recorded in LSC history. He finished the 8k race in 24:29.0 with a 4:55.5 split for his second individual title in 2023. The Buffs had five runners finish in the top-15 of the Texas Tech Open including Amponsah (1

LADY BUFFS
The Lady Buffs had a stellar performance last Friday as they move down two spots to No. 29 in the nation. The Lady Buffs had five runners competing against 128 runners at the Texas Tech Open where they finished first as a team and individually. The Lady Buffs took the title over Division I opponents Texas Tech, Oklahoma and UT-El Paso.
Freshman
Sarah Koomson won the individual title and was the only freshman ranked in the top-10 of the race. After winning her second title in her collegiate career, Koomson was selected the USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week after posting a 21:51.0 6k time.
All five Lady Buffs finished in the top-25 of the race with Koomson (1

COMING UP
WT will travel to Louisville, KY for the Live in Lou Classic on Sept. 30. They'll compete against multiple NCAA Division I & II universities.
