CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M women's soccer team travels to Oklahoma City for its Lone Star Conference opener against Oklahoma Christian. The Buffs (1-2-2 overall) and Eagles (4-0-1) kickoff at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

All-TIME SERIES
WT leads the all-time series with Oklahoma Christian with a record of 5-0-1. The Lady Buffs won the first five meetings with the Eagles after the series started in 1998. Last season, the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Canyon. Since Oklahoma Christian joined the Lone Star Conference, WT has a 3-0-1 record and have outscored the Eagles, 16-2.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Facing off with the No. 17-ranked Colorado Mesa Mavericks, WT couldn't pull off an upset as the Mavericks netted a second-half goal to win, 2-1. Colorado Mesa got on the board in the 30th minute as the Mavericks' Mikayla Eccher saw her first shot saved by Reagan Heelan, but Eccher put home the rebound. After halftime, Ashley Silvestre took on the CMU defense where she snuck a shot past the Mavericks goalkeeper to tie the game. Colorado Mesa scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute when Sauvelyne Randel chipped a shot over Heelan.
 
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
Oklahoma Christian enters the Lone Star Conference opener with a 4-0-1 record and have won three consecutive matches. The Eagles have allowed one goal this season and held opponents off the scoreboard for the last 305 minutes. Kayla Lovelace paces Oklahoma Christian with eight points on three goals and two assists. Brooklyn Fink follows with six points on three goals. Ashlee Jackson and Breanna Wooten have split starts in goal with Jackson making three of the five. The pair have combined for one goal allowed and 21 saves on 51 shots for a 0.20 goals-against average and .955 save percentage.
 
LSC PRESEASON POLL
Reigning Lone Star Conference champion Dallas Baptist picked up 37 of 39 possible first-place votes and 504 points to top the poll. Angelo State followed the Patriots in the standings with 457 points. WT finished third (one first-place, 412) while Lubbock Christian (351) and St. Mary's (339) rounded out the top five.
 
St. Edward's received the sixth spot with 318 points followed by Midwestern State (299) and UT Tyler (219). Texas A&M International (182) and Oklahoma Christian (149) finish the top 10 with Texas Woman's (127), Eastern New Mexico (114), and UT Permian Basin (78) conclude the rankings.
 
A LOOK AHEAD
The Lady Buffs return to Canyon for a conference matchup with Texas A&M International on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at The Pitch.
