CANYON, Texas – The West Texas A&M men's soccer team concludes its four-game home stretch with a non-conference meeting with Lubbock Christian on Wednesday. The Buffs and Chaps are slated to begin action at 7 p.m. at The Pitch in Canyon.    Â

All TIME SERIES
Since starting in 2013, the series between Lubbock Christian has been dead even with each team holding an 8-8-1 record. The Buffs dropped the first meeting between the two squads last season before drawing with the Chaps at home later in the season. Before the draw, LCU had won three straight meetings.

SCOUTING LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
LCU visits Canyon with an undefeated 4-0-1 record. The Chaps opened the season with a pair of wins against Fort Lewis and Adams State before drawing with MSU Denver. After the draw, LCU rattled off a pair of wins over South Dakota Mines and Northwest Nazarene. Saimon Gjeci leads the Chaps in points with nine on four goals and one assist. Enzo Jaques follows Gjeci with two goals and two assists. In goal, Tom Miles has started all but one game for the LCU. Miles has 24 saves and six goals allowed on 54 shots faced for a 1.58 goals-against average and .800 save percentage.

BUTCH LAUFFER
Butch Lauffer is in his 33rd season as head men's soccer coach at West Texas A&M University. As the longest tenured head coach in WT history, Lauffer has coached the men to 30 consecutive non-losing seasons and the women to 12-plus victories in 12 seasons. Lauffer has recorded a 372-166-51 (.675) record at the helm of the Buffs with a 561-233-68 (.691) overall record at WT.

LAST TIME OUT
Nothing went wrong for the Buffs in a 6-0 victory over Adams State on Sunday afternoon. WT registered 17 points in the win as 24 players saw the field in the win.
Gabriel Nevarez netted two goals along with an assist while
Josh Beeson,
Keaton Hartman,
Trevor Suggs, and
Dylan Watson each scored a goal.
Ignacio Barriga,
Venancio Calderon, and
Matteo Landais also assisted on the Buffs' goals. Additionally, the WT defense played the full 90 minutes without allowing a shot to the Grizzlies.

LSC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Hartman was pivotal in West Texas A&M's 2-0-1 week by starting all three matches against Southern Nazarene, Northwest Nazarene, and Adams State. He spearheaded a unit that allowed only one goal. He assisted on the Buffs' lone goal against Southern Nazarene while playing the full 90 minutes and added another assist on the game-winner against Northwest Nazarene. Against Adams State, he helped the Buffs not allow a single shot and added a goal of his own.

Kristal fueled an unbeaten week against Southern Nazarene, Northwest Nazarene, and Adams State by allowing only one goal over 252:22 minutes. Kristal, who started every match, shut out Northwest Nazarene with three saves in a 1-0 contest – the Buffs' first win of the season.

WT travels to Wichita Falls to renew its rivalry with Midwestern State. The long-time foes are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Stang Park.
