RICHARDSON, TX- The Lone Star Conference has selected West Texas A&M Cross Country athletes
William Amponsah and
Sarah Koomson as the LSC Runners of the Week for the second time this season announced by the Lone Star Conference Monday afternoon. The WT runners were selected based off their performances this past Friday at the Texas Tech Open where both the Buffs and Lady Buffs placed first as a team and won individual titles.

William Amponsah outpaced the 165-runner field to take medalist honors at the Texas Tech Open (Sept. 15). He finished the 8k race in 24:29.0 with a 4:55.5 split for his second individual title in 2023. It is also the fastest 8k time in the LSC to date. Amponsah's performance led West Texas A&M to the team title (41 points) and bettering NCAA Division I teams Oklahoma, Texas Tech and UTEP.

Leading from the start and running by herself for over half of the race, West Texas A&M freshman
Sarah Koomson won the Texas Tech Open 6k in a 21:50.0 time (5:51.3 split). She finished 43 seconds ahead of the second-place runner and paced the Lady Buffs to the team title over host runner-up Texas Tech and third-place Oklahoma.
Koomson was just awarded the USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week as well.
