CANYON, TX – West Texas A&M Track & Field men's and women's teams were selected to the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team. In addition, the USTFCCCA released the men's and women's All-Academic Athletes which included six Buffs and seven Lady Buffs.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic Team criteria includes a cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA squad list for indoor and/or outdoor track and field and must be a 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Transfer students and graduate students are included based on the semesters they competed at the current nominating institution.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes criteria includes a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. Athletes must have completed at least 24 semester hours and must have achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for either the indoor or outdoor season.
Head coach Matthew Stewarts' men's and women's teams made the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team with the Lady Buffs leading with a 3.22 team GPA and the Buffs with a 3.05 team GPA. The Buffs claimed National Runner-up at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships and a fourth-place finish at the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships. The Lady Buffs claimed third place at both the NCAA DII Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
