TYLER, Texas – West Texas A&M softball saw its Lone Star Conference tournament run come to an end at the hands of Oklahoma Christian on Friday afternoon. The Lady Buffs fell to the Eagles in the semifinal round of the tournament by a 9-0 score line.
The game went scoreless through three innings as neither team gave up any ground. The score changed in the top of the fourth as the Eagles put a runner on base with two outs. The walk extended the inning, allowing Boo Robinson to lift a two-run home run.
The two-run difference held up until the top of the sixth inning when the Eagles sent another two-run shot out of the ballpark. The home run started a huge inning where OC sent 13 players to the plate and forced three WT pitching changes. At the end of the frame, the Eagles scored seven runs, including five with two outs, on four hits.
Needing two runs to keep the game going, the Lady Buffs made contact but watched the ball fly right to the Eagles' defenders.
WT awaits its seeding for the NCAA Division II tournament. The NCAA announces its selections to the national tournament Monday, May 8 at 9 a.m. with a selection show on NCAA.com.
