CANYON, TX – West Texas A&M graduate student,
Quinton Sansing, claims USTFCCCA National Athlete of the week after his record-breaking run in the 400 meter this past weekend at the WT Last Chance meet.Â
Â
Quinton Sansing ran a 45.54 mark in the 400 meter, making him the fastest NCAA DII runner this season in the event. Sansing became the fastest runner in WT history by breaking the 1982 record in the 400m set by Buff alum, Earl Wilson. In the top-10 times set by WT Buffs in the 400m, Sansing owns six of those records. Alongside the 400m, Sansing is also a part of the 4x400 relay team. His relay team ranks third all-time in WT history.Â

Quinton Sansing hit his stride at the right time.
Just two weeks before the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships, Sansing clocked a division-leading mark over 400 meters this past weekend at the WT Last Chance Meet. Sansing turned one lap in 45.54, which was also the fastest mark by an NCAA DII athlete since 2018.
If Sansing finds the same speed – or goes even faster – in two weeks, he'll most likely improve upon his third-place finish at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships last year.
This is the second time this season that a male athlete from West Texas A&M has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week. Sansing joins teammate Isaac Bostio in that regard.
