CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M Track and Field competed in inclement weather this Saturday. Many track and field athletes dropped from events due to the wind progression and cold weather. A lot of WT track athletes have hit provisional marks this season and have put themselves in good standing to qualify for the NCAA DII Outdoor National Championships. There were nine events where the Buffs and Lady Buffs took first place.
STANDOUT PERFORMANCES
Multiple field athletes hit personal bests at the Buffalo Invitational. The Lady Buffs,
Hope Gray, threw 40.64m in the discus;
Landry Overby hit a personal best height in the high jump(1.49m).
The Buffs,
Traise Cain, jumped a distance of 6.56m in the long jump to mark his personal best distance in his career at WT. Throwers,
Ray Dixon and
Ethan Hollinshead threw bests in the hammer. Dixon had a seasonal best with a distance of 55.48m and leads the Buffs in hammer distance this season. Hollinshead had a personal and season best in the hammer with a distance of 41.45m.
Spencer Keys had a personal best in the pole vault with a height of 4.05m, he finished second in the event.

WT will take a handful of student-athletes to the Corky/Crofoot Shootout on April 28-29 hosted by Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
