CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's Meadow Gallentine and Florance Uwajeneza claimed individual Lone Star Conference Championships on Saturday at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock as the Lady Buffs sit atop of the team standings following the opening day of the LSC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
 
The opening day in Lubbock saw 10 different top-10 finishes by the Lady Buffs to go along with a pair of school records and an LSC all-time record. Leah Belfield dominated in her pair of prelims as the junior from New Zealand set new school record in the 60m (7.33) and the 200m (23.80), her mark in the 60m set a new LSC Indoor Track & Field record while she set a new meet record in the 200m. 
 
Gallentine picked up a victory in the women's Weight Throw with a mark of 15.12m (49-7.25) to set a new personal best. Uwajeneza dominated in the women's 5,000m as the senior from St. Paul, Minnesota ran a 17:14.80, the fifth fastest time in Lady Buff history.
