Canyon, Texas - West Texas A&M cross country runner Jeniffer Cherono (Junior, Iten, Kenya) has been named Lone Star Conference Female Runner of the Week for the week of Oct. 9.

Cherono took first-place honors in the College/Junior college division of the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree, held in Stillwater, Okla. Cherono, winning an event for the second consecutive week, clocked a time of 18:31 over the rigorous 5 kilometer course. She has now earned two victories and a third place finish in her three competitions this season.

The Lady Buffs' next competition will be Tuesday, Oct. 14 when they compete in the Angelo State Cross Country Classic, to be held in San Angelo, Texas.
