The West Texas A&M University men's and women's cross country teams will be competing in the New Mexico Highlands Invite this Saturday, September 24 in Las Vegas, N.M.

The Lady Buffs' last meet was on Sept. 9 in the Abilene Christian Invite, in which they finished in third-place, finishing behind Abilene Christian and Angelo State. WTAMU was led by senior Stephanie Williams who finished in ninth place. The Lady Buffs will be starting their race in Las Vegas at 9:30 a.m. Central Time.

The Buffs are coming off of a ninth-place finish last Saturday, Sept. 17 in Las Cruces, N.M. The race also featured three Division I programs with UTEP finishing first. The Buffs' top runner was freshman Jose Velasquez finished the race in 39th with a time of 26:05. The Buffs make the trip back to New Mexico this weekend and their run starts at 10:30 a.m. Central Time.

The Buff and Lady Buff runners will continue their season next week Oct. 1, at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Buffs will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the women following at 9:10 a.m.
