Canyon, Texas - West Texas A&M cross country runner Jeniffer Cherono (Junior, Iten, Kenya) has been named Lone Star Conference Female Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 8, the league announced Thursday.

Cherono was the Lady Buffs' top runner at the Abilene Christian Cross Country Classic, Saturday, Sept. 6. She finished third overall, clocking a time of 18:19.07 over the three-mile course and helpd lead the Lady Buffs to the overall team championship.

The Lady Buffs' next competition will be Sept. 27 when they compete in the Incarnate Word Invitational, to be held at San Antonio's Live Oak City Park.
