WTAMU Harriers Open Season By Hosting Buffalo Jamboree

The West Texas A&M University cross country teams open the 2003 season Friday as they host the WTAMU Buffalo Jamboree at the WTAMU Horse Center. Teams scheduled to compete are Angelo State, Wayland Baptist, Eastern New Mexico, Oklahoma Panhandle State, and South Plains College.

Coach Kimberly Dudley's women will run 5,000 meters at 5:30 p.m. and Coach Eric Lathrop's men will run five miles beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Dudley's team features just one senior, local talent Jami Hutcherson of Canyon,Texas, one sophomore, and three freshmen.

Lathrop has high hopes for sophomores Adam Penn, Eduardo Hernandez, and Jeremy Albers and junior college transfers Carmelo Morales and Santiago Bustillos.

Admission is free and people are encouraged to park in the lower south parking lot of Kimbrough Memorial Stadium and walk over to the meadows area around the Horse Center. There is a high school football game at Kimbrough scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
