RICHARDSON, Texas - The West Texas A&M women's cross country team was picked fourth in the Lone Star Conference's preseason poll, which was recently released.

The Wildcats were unanimous favorites to repeat as LSC champions, taking all 26 first-place votes on ballots cast by the league's head coaches, sports information directors and various media representatives. ACU totaled 312 points to finish ahead of second-place Tarleton State, which received 266 votes. Central Okalhoma was third (261), followed by fourth-place West Texas A&M (224) and Southwestern Oklahoma (183) rounding out the top five.

Twelve women's teams begin their season in late August-early September as they gear up for the LSC Championships, hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville on October 25, 2008. The Lady Buffs' season begins August 29, when they host the Buffalo Stampede.
