Lady Buff Cross Country Signs First Two Players of 2006 Class
April 12, 2006
West Texas A&M University head woman's cross country coach Kimberly Dudley has announced two signings for the 2006 recruiting class, as the Lady Buff runners' signed two local talents.
Sierra Manning from Canyon, Texas and Bridget Garza from Amarillo, Texas have signed to run next season for WTAMU.
Sierra Manning signed late last semester to run for the Lady Buffs and comes to West Texas A&M from a very successful cross country program in Canyon. Bridget Garza is a native of Amarillo where she ran cross country at Amarillo High, but has spent the last two seasons running for Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark. Garza was part of a Southern Arkansas team that placed fourth in the Gulf South Conference during the 2005 season.
"Sierra is a great team runner and has the work ethic that will help her become a great runner," Dudley said. "She will be a great addition to our team and will be a positive influence for the Lady Buff runners when next season comes around."
"Bridget will be very good as she has come from two strong programs, Amarillo High School and Southern Arkansas. She is a great asset and will help us compete for the LSC title next season," Dudley said.
West Texas A&M University finished second at LSC Championships in 2005 and then moved on to place third at the NCAA-II South Central Regional on November 5, 2005. The Lady Buffs will lost just one senior from last season's team, and will return eight runners.
