WEATHERFORD, Okla. -- Paced by three runners in the Top 10, the West Texas A&M University women's cross country team finished in second-place at the Lone Star Conference Championships Saturday morning at Weatherford, Okla., hosted by Southwestern Oklahoma State University at Prairie West Golf Course.

WTAMU finished with 66 points to claim second-place, as Abilene Christian University won its fifth LSC Championship in a row, as the Wildcats had the top three places and ended with 43 points.

Angelo State University was third with 88 points, while University of Central Oklahoma was fourth with 102 points, and East Central University rounded out the top five with 171 points.

The Lady Buffs were paced by three runners in the Top 10 to earn All-Conference honors, paced by senior Stephanie Williams in seventh, covering the 6K course in 23:22. Sophomore Jisel Bailon was ninth with an even 24:00, while junior Amy Garcia was three seconds behind at 24:03 for 10th-place. Junior Ruby Crox was five more seconds back, placing 12th with a 24:08. Freshman Belinda Castanon was 28th with a 25;12, while sophomore Sharen Diggs placed 32nd with a time of 25:27. Freshman Nicole Lopez placed 50th with a 26:41.

"Having three runners earn All-Conference honors is very exciting for our team," WTAMU head coach Kimberly Dudley said. "It was a great, great day for the Lady Buffs."

WTAMU will return to action on Nov. 5 with the NCAA-II Southwest Regional meet at Abilene, Texas.
