Lady Buff Harriers Finish Third At ASU Classic

The West Texas A&M University women's cross country team finished third at the Angelo State University Blue and Gold Classic Tuesday evening at San Angelo, Texas, in the Lady Buffs' final tune-up for the Lone Star Conference Championships.
Freshman Jisel Bailon finished in second-place, completing the 5-kilometer course in 19:50, 42 seconds behind Lydia Kimeli from South Plains College.
Host Angelo State took top honors in the seven-team field, collecting 35 points, followed by South Plains in second with 68 points and WTAMU in third with 92 points.
The Lady Buffs' other runner in the Top 10 was freshman Sharen Diggs in 10th-place with a time of 21:13.
Freshman Sara McCombs was in 22nd with a 22:51 time, just ahead of teammate and classmate Tylynn Lackey in 23rd with a 22:57. Junior Shemika Sanford followed in 25th-place clocking in at 23:28, while sophomore Christi Clift was in 28th with a time of 23:50.
WTAMU will compete next in the LSC Championships on Oct. 23 hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Durant, Okla.
