Cowboy Jamboree Results in PDF Format Stillwater, Okla. - West Texas A&M junior Jeniffer Cherono (junior, Iten, Kenya), took first-place honors in the College/Junior college division of the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree, held Saturday morning in Stillwater, Okla. The meet is considered one of the premier collegiate invitational cross country events. Cherono, winning an event for the second consecutive week, clocked a time of 18:31 over the rigorous 5 kilometer course. She has now earned two victories and a third place finish in her three competitions this season. The Lady Buffs placed ninth out of 26 teams competing. Also scoring for the Lady Buffs were Kristie Hartsfield (junior, Perryton, Texas), 14th, 19:41; Belinda Castanon (senior, El Paso, Texas), 52nd, 20:37; Becca Rapstine (sophomore, White Deer, Texas), 72nd, 21:16; and Tara Shields (freshman, Spearman, Texas), 106th, 22:22. "Everyone did their job this weekend," said Lady Buff head coach Kimberly Dudley. "Jeniffer's pacing per kilometer was improved over last week. "Our number-five runner, Sharen (Diggs) had some issues and couldn't complete the race, so that affected our team score, but Kristie, Belinda and Becca ran very strong." The Lady Buffs return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 14, when they compete in the San Angelo Cross Country Classic, in San Angelo, Texas.
