STILLWATER, Okla. - The West Texas &M University women's cross country team had perhaps its best showing in the Lady Buffs' history, as WTAMU finished second out of 25 scoring teams in the college division at the prestigious 69th annual Oklahoma State University Cowboy Jamboree at Stillwater, Okla.

WTAMU finished with 144 points, just six points behind Lone Star Conference foe Angelo State University who took top team honors with 138 points, as the Lady Buffs had four runners in the top 24 in the field of 212 runners from a total of 34 teams. It had rained Friday, so Saturday's race was run in muddy, soggy conditions.

The Lady Buffs were led by senior Stephanie Williams, who finished in seventh with a time of 20:04.

Junior Amy Garcia was 10th with a 20:08 time, while fellow junior, Ruby Crox was 19th with a 20:32. Sophomore Jisel Bailon was 24th with a 20:39, in her first race back in the Lady Buffs' lineup. She ran unattached last week in her final rehab from injury. Sophomore Sharen Diggs rounded out the Lady Buffs, finishing 104th with a 22:29.

WTAMU will be competing in the Angelo State University Invitational on Oct. 11, the final preparation for the Lone Star Conference Championships on Oct. 22 at Weatherford, Okla.
