WTAMU captured the team title on Saturday morning at the Tarleton State Invitational

STEVENVILLE, Texas - The West Texas A&M University women's cross country team won their first meet of the year on Saturday morning as they competed at the Tarleton Invitational.

A pair of Lady Buff runners took the first two spots as freshmen Kristie Hartsfield won the race with a time of 23:53 and was closely followed by junior Jisel Bailon who was only 10 seconds behind Hartsfield with a time of 24:03.

The Lady Buff runners finished the day with 29 points which was 12 points ahead of the host team and second place finishers, Tarleton State who had 41.

West Texas A&M women's cross country return to action next Saturday, Sept. 30, at the prestigious Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla.
