The WTAMU women's cross country team kicked off its 2006 season on Friday in Clovis, N.M.

CLOVIS, N.M. - The West Texas A&M women's cross country team posted a sixth place finish in its season-opening meet on Friday at the Mike Boit Invitational hosted by Eastern New Mexico.

Freshman Kristie Hartsfield was the top performer for the Lady Buffs, clocking a time of 19:11 in her first collegiate meet. Junior Jisel Bailon and sophomore Belinda Castanon were back-to-back in 28th and 29th place with times of 20:32 and 20:36 respectively.

Junior Bridget Garza wound up in 39th place with a run of 21:03 while freshman Sierra Manning rounded out the WTAMU contingency at the event with a time of 21:30.

Wayland Baptist took home first place team honors in the event, while South Plains College's Rachel Kipsang ended the day as the top individual runner with a time of 17:46.
