2008: West Texas A&M cross country runner Cherono has been named Lone Star Conference Female Runner of the Week for the week of Oct. 9. This marks her third honor of the season. Cherono, recieved second place at the National Junior College Track and Field Championship, with a time of 11:36 in the Steeple Chase. Cherono, took first-place honors in the College/Junior college division of the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree, held Sept. 29 in Stillwater, Okla. The meet is considered one of the premier collegiate invitational cross country events. Cherono, winning an event for the second consecutive week, clocked a time of 18:31 over the rigorous 5 kilometer course. West Texas A&M cross country runner Cherono has been named Lone Star Conference Female Runner of the Week for the week of Oct. 2, the league announced Thursday. This marks her second such honor of the season. The West Texas A&M women's cross country team, paced by Cherono taking first-place individual honors, placed second among six teams competing at the Incarnate Word Cardinal Invitational, held Sept. 27 at Live Oak City Park in San Antonio. Cherono won the meet with a time of 22:26.4. West Texas A&M cross country runner Cherono has been named Lone Star Conference Female Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 8, the league announced Thursday. The West Texas A&M women's cross country team won the overall team championship at the Abilene Christian Cross Country Classic, held Sept. 6 on the Sherrod Park course in Abilene. Cherono led the Lady Buffs individually, with a third-place finish and a time of 18:19.07 over the three-mile course.

2007: Cherono competed in the National Junior College Cross Country Track and Field Championship, where she placed 13th with a run of 17:55 in the 5K.

Previous College: Cherono graduated from Cowley College in Arkansas City, KS, where she ran for coach Mark Philips. She placed second at the Junior College National Track and Field Meet, in the steeple chase with a time of 11:31. Cherono placed 13th at the Junior College National Cross Country Meet, in the 5K with a time of 17:55.
