Lady Buff Volleyball Draws No. 5 Seed In Southwest Regional

The West Texas A&M University volleyball team drew the fifth-seed in the NCAA-II Southwest Regional Tournament, and will take on fourth-seeded Rockhurst University on Thursday at Metropolitan State College at Denver, Colo.

Host Metro State is the No. 1 seed, followed by University of Nebraska-Kearney at No. 2. Both teams earn first-round byes.

St. Edward's University is No. 3, followed by Rockhurst and West Texas A&M, then Fort Hays rounds out the field at the as the No. 6 seed.

The WTAMU-Rockhurst winner will face Metro State in the semi-finals. St. Edward's will face Fort Hays in the other quarterfinal match, with the winner to face Nebraska-Kearney.

The Lady Buffs, 29-7 overall, won their fifth-straight Lone Star Conference title Saturday night at The Box, defeating Central Oklahoma for the championship for the second year in a row. WTAMU was among others receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 Poll.

Rockhurst, 29-12, is ranked No. 24 in the Top 25 Poll, but lost to St. Edward's University in the Heartland Conference Championship Saturday night, 3-0.
