Morgan and Hyatt Named LSC South Players of the Week

Senior setter Kendra Morgan and fellow senior, libero Kacie Hyatt, received Lone Star Conference South Player of the Week awards, announced by the LSC office today (Nov. 4), for their performances in leading West Texas A&M to its seventh-straight LSC South title.
Morgan was named LSC South Setter of the Week and Hyatt was named LSC South Defensive Player of the Week.
Morgan, a 5-10, senior setter from Amarillo, Texas, established a new LSC career-assists mark, as she passed the 5,790 assists by Sarah Steinmetz of Texas Woman's from 1993-96, in WTAMU's five-game loss to Lubbock Christian Thursday, also recording her fifth triple-double.
She tallied 67 assists, 22 digs and 10 kills in the loss to LCU Thursday, which snapped the Lady Buffs' 40-match win streak in The Box.
For the week, Morgan logged 200 assists (50 apm/13.3 apg), 62 digs (15.5 dpm, 4.13 dpg) and 26 kills (6.5 kpm, 1.73 kpg).
She had 49 assists (16.3 apg) in the sweep over ENMU Tuesday, as the Lady Buffs defeated the Zias for the 23rd-straight meeting.
Morgan added 40 assists (13.33 apg) in the sweep over ACU Friday, as WTAMU clinched its seventh-straight LSC South title, in defeating the Wildcats for the 22nd-straight time.
She topped off her week with 44 assists (11.00 apg) in the Lady Buffs' four-game win over ASU Saturday.
Morgan is a graduate of Amarillo High School.
Hyatt, a 5-5 senior libero from Amarillo, Texas, set a new WTAMU single-season digs mark over the weekend, as the Lady Buffs won their seventh-straight LSC South title.
She had 11 digs on Saturday, as she passed Rachel Williams' 573 digs in 1995, as Hyatt now has 582 digs on the season.
Hyatt had a match-high 24 digs in WTAMU's five-game loss to Lubbock Christian Thursday, snapping the Lady Buffs' 40-match win streak in The Box.
For the week, Hyatt had 60 digs (15.00 dpm/4.00 dpg).
She is a graduate of Tascosa High School.
WTAMU is 26-7 on the year, and will travel to Las Vegas, N.M. on Monday (Nov. 10), for its regular-season finale. The Lady Buffs will host the LSC Tournament Thursday-Saturday (Nov. 13-15). As the South No. 1 seed, WTAMU has a first-round bye and will be in action on Friday (Nov. 14) at 7:30 p.m. at The Box.
