Bell Garners LSC South Defensive Player of the Week Award

Junior libero Brittani Bell was named Lone Star Conference South Division Defensive Player of the Week, announced today (Nov. 2) by the conference office, after tying her career-high twice in the same day.
Bell, a 5-3 junior Libero from Amarillo, Texas, had 73 digs (7.3 dpg) in WTAMU's three matches last week. She had 15 digs in WTAMU's three-game loss to Eastern New Mexico University on Tuesday, then tied her career-high with 29 digs in each of the Lady Buffs' two matches Saturday, a three-game loss to Harding University and a four-game win over Dallas Baptist University. Bell also had 29 digs in WTAMU's five-game loss to Eastern New Mexico back on Oct. 12. On the season, Bell leads WTAMU and the LSC with 632 digs (5.50 dpg). This is the third time this season Bell has received the honor. She is a graduate of Tascosa High School.
WTAMU is 18-14 overall on the year, 2-6 in LSC South play, entering this week's final three matches of the season. The Lady Buffs travel to San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday to face St. Mary's University at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match. WTAMU then closes out the regular season with an LSC South match at Kingsville, Texas against Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Thursday at 7 p.m. and has the season finale on Saturday against Tarleton State University at Stephenville, Texas at 6 p.m.
The Lady Buffs did not qualify for the LSC Tournament for the first time since being a LSC member and will not qualify for the NCAA-II Tournament for the first time since 1993.
