Lady Buffs Named LSC Players Of The Week In All Three Categories

CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M juniors Katie Rickwartz, Melissa Harper and Ashley Dyer were selected as Lone Star Conference Players of the Week this week. Harper garnered Offensive Player of the Week honors, Rickwartz was named Setter of the Week, and Dyer received Defensive Player of the Week honors after the Lady Buffs 2-0 outing last week against Midwestern State and Cameron.

This is the first time for Ashley Dyer to be selected as a player of the week. Dyerʼs defense at the net helped lead the Lady Buffs to two conference victories last week against Midwestern State and Cameron. Dyer tallied 11 block assists in two matches last week. She also contributed four kills. Her best match was against CU where she recorded eight block assists and joined the WT record books for block assists in a match.

Harper reached new career milestones last week in the Lady Buffsʼ two matches against Midwestern State and Cameron. She tallied 27 kills in 40 attempts for a hitting percentage of .600. She also contributed five block assists. Her best match was against CU where she recorded 17 kills in 21 attempts with no errors for a career high hitting percentage of .810. Her hitting percentage also earned her the eighth spot in WT records for hitting percentage in a match with a minimum of ten attempts. Harper is currently second in the LSC for hitting percentage and blocks.

Rickwartz also reached a new career milestone in the Lady Buffs wins last week against LSC opponents, Midwestern State and Cameron. She totaled 83 assists last week, tallying her 3000th career assist against MSU. She also contributed nine kills nine kills and two service aces as well as three block assists. She also recorded 12 digs. Her best match was against CU, where she tallied 48 assists, four kills, three block assists, and 11 digs. Rickwartz still leads the league in assists, averaging 11.33 assists per set.
