CANYON, Texas -

West Texas A&M junior middle blocker Melissa Harper was selected as Lone Star Conference Player of the Week this week. Harper garnered Offensive Player of the Week honors after helping lead the Lady Buffs to a 2-0 outing last week against Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce.

 

In those two matches, Harper contributed 23 kills, averaging 3.83 kills per set, and maintaining a team high hitting percentage of .465. She also contributed four blocks, including one solo block. Her best match was against Texas A&M-Commerce where she kept the offense alive by putting down 16 kills in 26 attempts for a hitting percentage of .538. Harper's performance in both matches led to two more sweeps of conference opponents, and a record of 20-3 overall, and 4-0 in the LSC.

 

The Lady Buffs are back on the road for more Lone Star Conference action on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7:00 p.m., taking on Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Okla.
