Lady Buffs Fifth in First NCAA-II Southwest Regional Rankings

The West Texas A&M University volleyball team is ranked fifth in the first NCAA-II Southwest Regional Rankings, released by the NCAA today (Oct. 8).
The Lady Buffs are the highest Lone Star Conference team, followed by Abilene Christian, who WTAMU will play on Saturday, ranked seventh and Cameron, ranked ninth.
Nebraska-Kearney is atop the rankings, followed by Metro State, Fort Hays State, Rockhurst and WTAMU. Rockhurst defeated the Lady Buffs at the Heartland/LSC Crossover on Sept. 19.
The region rankings, which determine who makes the region tournament, will be released on Oct. 22, Nov. 5, and Nov. 12, with the region tournament Nov. 20-22 at the highest seed.
The Lady Buffs are currently 17-5 on the year, after Tuesday's four-game victory over Eastern New Mexico. WTAMU will put its nine-match win streak on the line this weekend at Angelo State Friday and at Abilene Christian Saturday.
