CANYON, Texas - For the second time this season, West Texas A&M junior libero Sara Contreras was honored for her outstanding play as this week she was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Contreras led an inspired defensive effort by the Lady Buffs with 10 digs on Thursday against Angelo State as WTAMU held the Rambelles to a frustrating -.092 hitting percentage. She also piled up a team-high 21 digs in a non-conference win over Panhandle State on Tuesday and added 12 against ACU on Saturday to give her 43 digs for the week.

The Lady Buffs are back in action this weekend as they travel to Topeka, Kan., to take part in the LSC/MIAA Regional Crossover.
