CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M Lady Buff volleyball schedule features seven opponents that were ranked in the 2008 Bison/AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll.

The Lady Buffs finished the 2008 season ranked seventh in the Bison/AVCA Division II Coaches Poll after a 34-5 season and another trip to the NCAA South Central Regional tournament, the 19th regional tournament appearance in program history.

The Lady Buffs have four tournaments on the 2009 schedule. The season begins with the Lady Buff Classic (Aug. 27-29), where WT will face third-ranked Grand Valley State (Aug. 28) and 20-ranked Nova Southeastern (Aug. 28).

The Lady Buffs will also appear in an MIAA tournament (Oct. 2-3) at Washburn in Topeka, Kan., which will see WT facing Emporia State (Oct. 2), Washburn (Oct. 2), and Truman State (Oct. 3), all of whom saw action at the NCAA South Central Regional tournament last season.

Lone Star Conference opponents that will travel to Canyon, Texas to face the Lady Buffs include Abilene Christian (Sep. 17), Angelo State (Sep. 19), Southwestern Oklahoma (Oct. 8), Central Oklahoma (Oct. 10), Southeastern Oklahoma (Oct. 22), East Central (Oct. 24), and Eastern New Mexico (Nov. 5). The Lady Buffs will travel for all other LSC matchups.

The Lady Buffs open the season on August 27, 2009, facing UT-Permian Basin at The Box in Canyon, Texas. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
