CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M University volleyball coach Jason Skoch has announced the signing of three student-athletes to national letters-of-intent to attend WTAMU and play for the Lady Buffs during the upcoming 2010-11 season.

The three signees are Ashley Davis, Robin Marsala, and Rosalyn Thorpe.

"I’m please with the quality of athletes that we’ve brought in so far to fill some holes in our roster," said WT head coach Jason Skoch. "Ashley adds offensive firepower to the outside hitter position. Robin brings confidence and defense to the setter position. Rosalyn will immediately improve our block and help replace the offense we lost on the right side."

A local product, Ashley Davis joins the Lady Buffs as a 5-8 outside hitter from Amarillo (Texas) Randall High. Under head coach Jason Culpepper, Davis helped her team to a 2009 State Championship, the first one in Randall’s school history. She was the 2009 District 3-4A Player of the Year and was selected to the All-State team in both her junior and senior seasons. Davis also excelled in the classroom, as an academic All-State selection and a superintendent scholar at Randall.

A 5-5 setter from Leesburg, Va., Robin Marsala enjoyed an impressive prep career at Loudoun County High under head coach Jarod Brown. In her four seasons, her team posted a 109-7 won-loss record and were three-time State Champions in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Marsala was named to the All-State, all-Metro, all-Region, and all-District first teams as a senior and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Rosalyn Thorpe brings height as a 6-3 rightside hitter from Fort Worth Christian High (Keller, Texas). Under head coach Kevin Anderson, Thorpe helped her team to the TAPS 5A State semifinals. She was named first team all-State and first team all-District as well as being selected as the State Tournament MVP. She also played club volleyball for Tejas in North Richland Hills, Texas. Academically, Thorpe was a member of the National Honor Society.

"There is an expectation for the 2010 class to compete immediately for playing time," Skoch said. "Mixing in Ashley, Rosalyn and Robin with what we return should help WT stay strong in our region. All three are used to competing at a high level and being the reason their respective teams are successful."

"With a couple more signing this spring, we should have a very competitive group pushing each other every day to help us improve and be ready for another playoff run."
