The West Texas A&M University volleyball team ended its season on a high note Saturday with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-24, 30-18) victory over Lone Star Conference South Division opponent Tarleton State University. This win increases WTAMU's dominance over TSU as the Lady Buffs lead the all-time series, 23-0.

The Lady Buffs played a solid match, getting better as the match progressed. WTAMU hit a combined .311 attack percentage for the match, including a .567 in game three. WTAMU recorded a total of 49 kills and 16 errors on 106 attacks while the TexAnns only hit .105 as a team along with 36 kills and 24 errors on 114 attacks.

The Lady Buffs were led by sophomore outside hitter Rachel Altman's .556 attcking percentage. Altman had a stellar match as she pounded 10 kills on 18 attacks, commiting no errors. Altman's effort was followed up by senior Jill Steininger's .412 and junior Cynthia Carter's .400 attack percentages. Together, Steininger and Carter tallied 17 kills on 32 attacks and only four errors.

WTAMU also saw solid performances from sophomore outside hitter Jessica Scherr and Freshman setter Erin Houlihan. Scherr recorded a match-high 15 kills (.231 attack percentage), nine digs, one service ace and one block, while Houlihan tallied a match-high 42 assists and one service ace.

Desiree Reed led the TexAnn challenge with 11 kills, 3 errors, 26 attacks for a .308 attacking percentage. Nikki Bonnet tallied 33 assists while the team racked up a total 20 blocks on the day.

This victory improves WTAMU's 2004 final record to 19-15 including 2-7 in LSC action. WTAMU loses two seniors with the conclusion of the season, Jill Steininger and Katie Starkweather, but will return six starters from the line-up.
