WT Volleyball Sweeps East Central In LSC Match

ADA, Okla. - The Lady Buffs remain tough in the Lone Star Conference, sweeping East Central University in three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-19. WT is now 26-4 overall and 10-0 in the LSC, while East Central is 10-20 overall and 3-7 in the LSC. This is the first year for the Tigers to compete in volleyball.

The Lady Buffs put down 40 kills and totaled a hitting percentage of .198. Laura Prinsen (junior, rightside hitter, Spring, Texas) led the team in kills with 10, recording a hitting percentage of .212 while Melissa Harper (junior, middle blocker, Peoria, Ariz.) and Lauren Thedford (sophomore, outside hitter, Carrollton, Texas) each recorded nine kills. Harper also contributed one solo block and three block assists, and Ashley Dyer (junior, middle blocker, Perryton, Texas) led the team in blocks with one solo block and four block assists. WT had three players tally double digit digs, led by Prinsen with 14, followed by Katie Rickwartz (junior, setter, Canyon, Texas) with 13 and Sara Contreras (senior, libero, Amarillo, Texas) with 11.

The Lady Buffs travel to Durant, Okla. to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2:00 p.m. WT will return home next week for three final Lone Star Conference match-ups.
