Final Stats

The West Texas A&M University volleyball team rebounded from a loss earlier in the day to defeat Dallas Baptist University, 3-1 (30-22, 30-28, 28-30, 31-29) Saturday evening at Dallas, Texas.

WTAMU guaranteed itself a winning record on the season, as the Lady Buffs improve to a Battle of New Orleans-like record of 18-14 overall with three matches remaining on the schedule.

The Lady Buffs rebounded from being swept by Harding University earlier Saturday, and snapped a three-match losing streak as well.

WTAMU hit .246 for the match, including .405 in game one, while DBU was .216 for the match.

The Lady Buffs were led by sophomore outside hitter Jessica Scherr's match-high 18 kills with a .349 attack percentage, while classmate middle blocker Megan Spivey pounded 17 kills on a whopping .483 attack percentage. Freshman outside hitter Kolby Rhoades added 11 kills.

Fellow freshman, setter Erin Houlihan dished out a match-high 62 assists (15.5 apg). Junior libero Brittani Bell posted 29 digs, tying her career-high total for the second time of the day and third time this season. Spivey had match-high four blocks, while redshirt-freshman middle blocker Jackie Stogdell added three blocks.

DBU was led by Jenna Pry's 17 kills.

WTAMU has one final non-conference match on Wednesday Nov. 3 at San Antonio, Texas against St. Mary's University for the second time this season. The match will begin at 7 p.m.

The Lady Buffs conclude the season with a pair of LSC South matches, beginning at Kingsville, Texas against Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. WTAMU's regular-season finale is on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at Stephenville, Texas against Tarleton State University.
