ABILENE, Texas - The West Texas A&M University women's volleyball team defeated Abilene Christian University Saturday afternoon in a close four-game match (30-27, 30-28, 26-30, 30-27). The Lady Buffs showed great resilancy by coming out strong after the shocking five-game loss to Angelo State on Friday night.

WTAMU had its NCAA-II record for consecutive victories vs. conference opponents snapped at 77-straight in Friday's loss to ASU, but bounced back to defeat ACU.

This latest win marks the Lady Buffs' 21st-straight win over ACU and lead the overall series, 39-5.

Freshman middle blocker Ambra Clark led the WTAMU attack with 23 kills and seven digs. Jessica Scherr (freshman, outside hitter) provided a spark on both sides of the ball. Scherr ended the game with 16 kills and a game-high 25 digs.

Senior setter Kendra Morgan had another solid game adding 54 assists, 18 digs and three kills. Senior Libero Kacie Hyatt tallied 20 digs while sophomore defensive specialist Brittani Bell added 21 digs.

The Lady Buffs posted a high hitting percentage in the games they won, but were plauged with errors in the third game. The Lady Buffs won the match despite having a lower overall hitting percentage than the Wildcats. ACU hit .216 for the match while WTAMU hit .189.

The difference in the match was serving as ACU commited 12 serving errors.

The Wildcats were led by Haylee Hartline and Michelle Bernhardt with 23 kills a piece while setter Malia Plumlee tallied 64 assists. ACU is now 17-7 overall and 1-1 in LSC South action.

The Lady Buffs are now 18-6 overall and 4-1 in LSC South play, and have a break from conference action next weekend, hosting the WTAMU Tournament Friday and Saturday at The Box.
