Lady Buffs Sweep Through BritKare Lady Buff Challenge

The West Texas A&M University Lady Buff volleyball team finished the BritKare Lady Buff Challenge on Saturday, recording a perfect 4-0 record including sweeps of all four of their matches.
The Lady Buffs took on Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday afternoon, sweeping the match, 30-14, 30-11, 30-14. They were led by freshman Kolby Rhoades, who recorded the Lady Buffs' only double-digits in the kill column with 11, and junior Cynthia Carter, who notched nine. Freshman setter Erin Houlihan had 33 assists and three services aces, while junior Brittani Bell logged 13 digs. WTAMU tied a season high with 11 service aces in the match.
The day's second match paired WTAMU with Lone Star Conference-North opponent Texas A&M Commerce. The Lady Buffs again swept, 30-23, 30-23, 30-25 with strong hitting from senior Jill Steininger and freshman Rachel Altman, who recorded 12 and 10 kills respectively. Houlihan added 39 assists, while Bell and sophomore Jessica Scherr logged 20 and 16 digs respectively.
The Lady Buffs return to action on Tuesday, October 12 at 7 p.m., taking on Eastern New Mexico at the Box. Their homestand continues on Thursday, October 14 at 9:30 p.m., when they will meet Tarleton State at the Event Center for WTAMU's annual Midnight Madness.
