Lady Buff Volleyball Beats Eastern New Mexico for Ninth Straight Win

PORTALES, N.M. - Sophomores Melissa Harper and Natalie Johnson tallied 12 kills apiece as the Lady Buffs beat the Eastern New Mexico Zias, 3-1 (30-20, 30-21, 27-30, 30-14), for their ninth consecutive victory. With the win, WTAMU improves to 17-5 on the season. Harper finished with an individual hitting percentage of .435, as she tallied her 12 kills in just 23 attacks. Katie Rickwartz and Laura Prinsen - also sophomores - contributed solid performances, as well. Rickwartz tallied 31 assists and six digs while Prinsen had 16 digs and two assists. They each also had four kills. Rickwartz split setting duties with freshman Teresa Dunn, who notched 13 assists on the night. Junior Sara Contreras also had a strong outing as she collected 22 digs. WTAMU heads to Topeka, Kan., this weekend for the LSC/RMAC Crossover Tournament. On Friday, the Lady Buffs face Truman State at 12 p.m. and Emporia State at 4 p.m., then round out the tournament on Saturday with matches against Missouri Western at 11 a.m. and Washburn at 4 p.m.
