ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Lady Buffs (13-2, 0-0 LSC) faced their third opponent in Florida and came out on top again, defeating Eckerd College (9-4) in five exciting sets, with scores 25-27, 25-19, 23-25, 25-7, and 23-21. WT went 3-0 onthe weekend against three quality opponents.

"We started off slow in the first and third games and lost those, but we easily won the second and fourth games," said head coach Tony Graystone. "The fifth game was out of control. There were so many opportunities for both teams to win. We caught a break when Eckerd was called for being out of rotation and finally put it away with the set point. The girls never quit. Everyone played really well."

Juniors Laura Prinsen, Melissa Harper, and Natalie Johnson were unstoppable in offense, with each tallying 19, 17, and 16 kills, respectively. Prinsen contributed two service aces and 13 digs to go along with her kills. Harper also put up two solo blocks and three block assists. Junior Ashley Dyer came up strong on defense with seven total blocks, including one solo. Junior Katie Rickwartz tallied 54 assists and two service aces.

The Lady Buffs are back on the road again next week, taking on their first conference opponent, Angelo State, on Sept. 25 in San Angelo. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. CDT.
