CANYON, Texas - Fueled by a career-high 27 kills from sophomore Laura Prinsen, the No. 19 West Texas A&M volleyball team emerged victorious in their first five-game match of the season Tuesday night by defeating Lubbock Christian (30-27, 26-30, 30-14 and 15-10) in front of 622 fans at "The Box."

The win improves WTAMU's overall record to 12-5 while the Lady Chaps fall to 10-4 on the year.

After taking two of the game's first three matches, the Lady Buffs fought hard to end the match in four games, but the scrappy Lady Chaps held out for a 34-32 victory which forced a deciding fifth game.

During the final game, the Lady Buffs retook the floor with a fury, taking the first five points of the game to take a commanding advantage. Lubbock Christian, however would not go quietly as the team fought back before a Cherilyn McMenamy kill clinched the 12 win of the season for the Lady Buffs.

Sophomore Katie Rickwartz was solid on the court in the match, contributing 65 assists, while classmates Melissa Harper and Natalie Johnson chipped in with 17 and 14 kills, respectively.

The Lady Buffs are back in action tomorrow as they host Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference match at 7 p.m. Prior to the match, WTAMU will unveil the banner recognizing last season's LSC Championship and Elite Eight appearance.
