The West Texas A&M University volleyball team suffered a 3-1 (23-30, 30-25, 26-30, 12-30) loss to 20th-ranked Rockhurst University Friday evening at the Lone Star Conference-Heartland Conference Crossover at Edmond, Okla., hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma.

Sophomore middle blocker Megan Spivey recorded match-highs of 21 kills and eight blocks for the Lady Buffs, who lost for the third time in their last five matches and are now 8-5 on the season. It was WTAMU's third-straight loss to Rockhurst, after last year's losses at this same tournament, then in the quarterfinals of the NCAA-II Southwest Regional Tournament.

Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Altman tallied 11 kills and fellow sophomore, outside hitter/middle blocker Ambra Clark added 10 kills.

Freshman setter Erin Houlihan doled out 53 assists, while junior libero Brittani Bell tallied 20 digs.

Rockhurst had four players in double-figure kills, led by 14 apiece from Tammie Rech and Rachel Fowler.

WTAMU concludes Crossover action and a three-week road swing against St. Edward's on Saturday at 3 p.m., before returning home to the friendly confines of The Box for a match against Lubbock Christian on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m.
