KINGSVILLE, Texas - The march toward a second consecutive Lone Star Conference Championship got off to a good start for the West Texas A&M volleyball team Thursday night as the Lady Buffs defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville in three games (28-30, 30-25, 34-32 and 30-21).

The victory improves WTAMU's overall record on the season 9-5 and its conference mark to 1-0, while the Javalinas fall to 4-5 and 0-1 in league action.

Sophomore outside hitter Laura Prinsen continued her trend of impressive play during the match, leading the Lady Buffs with 21 kills on 46 total attacks for a .370 hitting percentage while also chipping in 11 digs. Second-year player Melissa Harper contributed 15 kills for the Lady Buffs and redshirt freshman Jessica Tuttle notched a career-high 14 kills.

Sophomore setter Katie Rickwartz finished play with 49 assists while junior libero Sara Contreras posted a game-high 43 digs.

The Lady Buffs are back in action tomorrow when they travel to San Antonio, Texas, to face St. Mary's in a 2 p.m. match up.
