The West Texas A&M University volleyball team was upset by co-host St. Mary's University, 3-1 (30-26, 29-31, 24-30, 27-30), Friday at the Alamo Classic Tournament in San Antonio.

The Lady Buffs, ranked No. 17 in the AVCA Top 25 Poll, hit a paltry .116 hitting percentage in the match, including -.044 in the second game. STMU also hit poorly, hitting .000 in game two and .159 for the match.

Freshman outside hitter Jessica Scherr led WTAMU with a double-double, tallying 17 kills and 22 digs. Senior setter Kendra Morgan also recorded a double-double, dishing out 44 assists and logging 19 digs.

St. Mary's had three players with double-digit kills, led by Molly Lowery's 26 kills.

It was WTAMU's first-ever loss to STMU, after winning the previous five meetings.

The Lady Buffs fall to 7-4 on the season, and return to the court Saturday, taking on co-host Incarnate Word at 1 p.m.
