WTAMU Volleyball Concludes Colorado Premier with Loss to Augustana

DENVER, Colo. - The second half of the Colorado Premiere did not do a smoothly as the opening day of the event had for the young West Texas A&M volleyball team, as the Lady Buffs fell to Augustana in four games (34-32, 30-28, 26-30 and 30-27) on Saturday to conclude play at the tournament. Earlier in the day, the Lady Buffs dropped another four-game match to Southwest Minnesota State leaving their record following the tournament at 6-3. Sophomore Lauren Prinsen was one of the lone bright spots for WTAMU, as the Spring, Texas, native collected 20 kills on 44 attacks for the squad which struggled offensively, hitting .189 with 38 errors as a team. Outside hitter Natalie Johnson also chipped in with 19 kills while middle blocker Melissa Harper added 17. Setter Katie Rickwartz piled up a career high 70 assists, while libero Sara Contreras collected 30 digs in the loss. The Lady Buffs continue their road trip next weekend as they travel to Duluth, Minn., for four games at the Minnesota-Duluth Invitational.
