CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M head track & field coach, Darren Flowers, has announced the signing of Alisha Davis, a sprinter/thrower from Abilene (Texas) High to a letter-of-intent to attend WTAMU in the fall of 2009 and participate in track & field.

“Alisha is a versatile student-athlete who will be a leader in our sprint events and relays,” said WT head track & field coach Darren Flowers. “She is also an outstanding thrower. We are expecting big things during her career at WT.”

Davis joins the track & field program’s initial signing class, which now consists of 14 student-athletes.

Davis has clocked a time of 11.67 in the 100 meter dash. She was third at the 2008 District 3-5A Championships in the 100 meters and also ran the anchor leg on the District 3-5A championship 4X200 meter relay quartet. Davis has received Abilene HS Sprinter of the Year honors four consecutive years. She doubles as a thrower and recently recorded a shot put of 40-8.25, finishing third at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

Davis plans to major in either Education or Pre-Med at WTAMU.
