CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M head track & field coach, Darren Flowers, has announced the signing of Nicole Hudgens to a letter-of-intent to attend WTAMU in the fall of 2009 and participate in cross country and track & field.

She joins the program’s initial signing class, which currently consists of 11 student-athletes, 10 of whom signed on Feb. 4, 2009.

“As I’ve stated previously, our initial goal is to sign the best track and field athletes in the area, and I believe we are accomplishing our goal, said WT head track & field coach Darren Flowers. “This group of student-athletes will set the foundation of our new track and field program and should be able to step in and make us competitive immediately."

Nicole Hudgens Kaufman, Texas (High) - While representing the Lions, Hudgens lettered four years in track at Kaufman (Texas) HS. During her time on both the cross country and track team, Hudgens is an all-region and all-state cross country selection, earning the honor in both 2007 and 2008. She also placed fourth in state with a time of 11:49 in cross country. Hudgens performed well in the classroom, earning all-State Academic honors as well as earning a place on the school’s Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance and the title of Junior of the Month. The daughter of Lance and Shelly Hudgens, she plans to study pre-vet at WT.
