CANYON, Texas - Eight members of the West Texas A&M Softball program have been named National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athletes for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Infielders Kristina Myles, Christie Russell and Audrey Wallace, outfielders Erin Hartigan, Whitney Midkiff and Jessica Ruzicki along with pitchers Courtney Ford and Marci Womack were honored for excelling in the classroom.

Hartigan, Russell and Ruzicki are repeat winners of the NFCA award.

The NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete award recognizes those athletes who have earned a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the year. As a team, the Lady Buffs posted a 3.19 GPA which placed them second in the top 50 in the NFCA rankings of NCAA-II programs.
