Blaskowski, Two Lady Buffs Participate in NCAA YES Clinic
June 18, 2008
CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M University softball coach Kevin Blaskowski as well as players Breanna Adams and Erin Hartigan recently participated as clinicians in a pair of YES clinics sponsored by the NCAA. The clinics were held on May 31-June 1 in Oklahoma City in conjunction with the Women's College World Series. Blaskowski was one of 10 college coaches selected from a group of over 150 who applied to work the clinic. His responsibilities included instructing in hitting and short game sessions. Adams and Hartigan joined over 20 college softball players who served as group leaders and instructors at the clinics for boys and girls ages 10 through 16.
Participants took part in drills that covered all aspects of the game of softball. They also learned conditioning tips to improve athletic performance as well as life skills and sportsmanship traits to help them become successful student-athletes. "It was an honor to be on the staff of the YES clinics and work with some of the very best coaches from across the country," Blaskowski said. "Youth Education through Sports clinics provide a great opportunity for coaches and students to give back to the young athletes who support us and are the future of the game of softball. It was an outstanding experience for Bre, Erin and I to represent West Texas A&M and our softball program at these events."
