Three Lady Buffs Pick Up Daktronics All-South Central Region Honors

CANYON, Texas - Three Lady Buff softball standouts have been named to the Daktronics South Central Region team announced Wednesday morning. Outfielder Kasey Henderson grabbed first team honors, while teammates Erin Hartigan and Kristina Myles were named to the second team.

The Lady Buffs finished the season at 35-21 overall and made an appearance in the Lone Star Conference Tournament for the first time in the program's four year existence.

Henderson, a Katy, Texas native, led the Lady Buffs in hits (71), batting average (.410) and stolen bases (22) during her first season in Canyon. As the everyday centerfielder for WT, she boasted a .925 fielding percentage with 63 putouts.

Hartigan is one of only two Lady Buff seniors to complete all four season with the program and her leadership showed on the diamond this season. The Omaha, Nebraska native hit .381 at the plate with seven home runs and 41 RBI.

Myles made a mark in the LSC as a true freshman in 2009, hitting .407 at the dish with 14 doubles and three homers. The Southlake, Texas native was fourth on the team in fielding percentage with a .973 at second base.

Fellow LSC players were recognized with South Central Region honors, as Angelo State's Sandy James was named the Player of the Year, while Southeaster Oklahoma's Marjorie Johnson was name the Pitcher of the Year.
