May 8, 2008
CANYON, Texas - Fresh off a selection to the first team All-Lone Star Conference squad, West Texas A&M softball's Amber Farr was selected to the second team of the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-South Central Region team. Farr becomes the first Lady Buff to garner All-Region honors since the program was resurrected prior to the 2006 campaign. Farr developed into one of the most productive hitters in the LSC as a sophomore, leading the Lady Buffs in batting average with a .342 clip at the plate and tying for the lead in entire conference with seven triples. Additionally, Farr led the Lady Buffs with 14 multiple hit games while scoring 32 runs and driving in 26 while adding 26 stolen bases. As well as showing her skills at the plate, the Collinsville, Texas, native was also one of the most valuable defensive players on the WT roster, showing her versatility by playing 27 games at shortstop, 18 in right field and 13 at the catcher spot. Last week, the Collinsville, Texas, native highlighted a list of five Lady Buffs to receive postseason accolades from the LSC. With the core of the young team returning next season, WT softball appears ready to take another step forward after a program record 25 wins in 2008.
